SUNDAY WORSHIP

Everything you need to stay COVID secure as we begin to gather in person

What to Expect

As we continue to pray about the way forward and slowly re-open our building, we will be holding one gathering every Sunday at 10amAt this stage, we need to minimise numbers in our building to meet with guidelines, therefore there will be a maximum of 30 people in attendance at each service. Everyone is welcome. You are free to attend any planned gathering, but you may prefer to reserve a seat (or seats) in advance using our simple booking system below. The gathering will also be streamed LIVE to Facebook, allowing us all to worship together as one, whether in our homes or in the church building.

Please check our website or social media before you leave as due to the current circumstances we may need to change opening arrangements at short notice.

Arriving

  • Please wear a face mask unless you are medically exempt.

  • You will be greeted outside the building by our Parish Nurse, Rachel, who will take your temperature using a non-contact thermometer.

  • Please do not attend in person if you have a high temperature, a new persistent cough, experiencing any change to your smell or taste, or if you are unwell generally.

  • You will then be asked to move forward to the main entrance. Please note markings on the pavement to maintain social distancing as you queue to enter the building.

  • Upon entering the building, you will be asked to sanitise your hands and to sign in for Track and Trace purposes.

  • A steward will let you know where to sit.

Inside the Building

  • You will notice the chairs are set out in groups of two. If you need to move any chairs, a steward will assist you to ensure social distancing is maintained.

  • The church has been laid out differently than usual to allow for the best use of space.

  • All of the four doors in each corner of the building will be propped open to allow for maximum ventilation at all times. Depending on the weather, you may wish to bring an extra cardigan or a coat to stay warm.

Facilities

  • The only toilet available will be the disabled toilet at the back of the hall, operating a one in, one out system.

Worship

  • Please ensure you continue to wear your face covering during our time of worship. Leaders may not be wearing a face covering whilst leading the gathering to allow for clear sound and vision. They will, however, maintain significant distance from those in attendance when masks are not being worn.

  • The time you are with us will be around 30 minutes.

  • We will follow a simple liturgy, hear a reading and brief thought for the day, have the opportunity to be led in prayer, and also to share our prayers on Facebook LIVE.

  • The gathering will be live streamed to Facebook LIVE - you will not be shown on camera.

Leaving

  • Stewards will indicate to you where to leave at the end of the gathering as we will be leaving via two different exits, again to maintain social distancing.

  • Please do keep moving once you are outside the building so that a queue or a group does not form behind you.

  • Please be good neighbours to those who live in the community by not socialising in large groups and following the 'Rule of Six' and maintain social distancing.

Watch our helpful video showing you what to expect when you arrive at church

We are really looking forward to welcoming you back into our building. Remember, the gathering will be live streamed directly to Facebook, so if you have Covid symptoms, are unwell, or don't feel safe, we can all share the same experience, whether at home or in church. Recordings will also be available on our YouTube Channel later.

A longer reflection can be heard via our Podcast and you can read notes on the reflection on our Blog, accessible via our Online Church page.

Our planned gatherings are visible on our Calendar. If you would like to book in with us, please click the button below and let us know who you are, how many spaces you need, and the date you would like to attend. Alternatively, call us on

Our Sunday Morning Prayer

Responses are in the bold black print. You can follow the service using the outline below

if you prefer not to use paper copies in church

OPENING RESPONSES AND THANKSGIVING

The world belongs to God,

The earth and all its people.

How good and how lovely it is,

To live together in unity.

Love and faith, come together,

Justice and peace join hands.

If the Lord's disciples keep silent,

These stones would shout aloud.

Open our lips, O God.

And our mouths shall proclaim your praise.

INTRODUCTION AND WELCOME

PSALM OF LAMENT

Psalm 13, 44, 80, 17, 89

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, Maker of all,

Have mercy upon us.

Jesus Christ, Servant of the poor,

Have mercy upon us.

Holy Spirit, Breath of Life,

Have mercy upon us.

Here the leader may offer a brief prayer of confession

Let us remember our own faults and failings.

Silence

We confess to God and in the company of all God's people

that our lives and the life of the world are broken by our sin.

May God forgive you, Christ renew you, and the Spirit enable you to grow in love.

Amen.

PRAYER FOR GOD'S HELP

Turn again, O God, and give us life,

That your people may rejoice in you.

Make me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a right spirit within me.

Give us again the joy of your help,

With your spirit of freedom sustain us.

Here the leader may offer a prayer for God's help

And now, as Jesus taught us, we say:

Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be your name,

Your kingdom come,

Your will be done

on earth as in heaven,

Give us today our daily bread,

Forgive us our sins,

As we forgive those who sin against us,

Lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power

and the glory are yours,

Now and forever, Amen.

PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND INTERCESSION

O God, lead us from death to life,

from falsehood to truth.

Lead us from despair to hope,

from fear to trust.

Lead us from hate to love,

from war to peace.

Let peace fill our hearts,

our world, our universe.

We ask it for your own name's sake.

Amen.

CLOSING RESPONSES

This is the day that the God has made.

We will rejoice and be Glad in it.

We will not offer to God

Offerings that cost us nothing.

Go in peace and serve the Lord,

We will seek peace and pursue it.

In the name of the Trinity of Love,

One God in perfect community. Amen.
